Accessible Web Design
Accessible web design incorporates the principles of best practices for the web into making content equitably available to individuals who use alternate means of accessing the web. These best practices include providing text alternatives for non-text items and constructing websites in a fashion that puts the needs of the user first. A good model to follow is the POUR (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust) website construction model. The article in the next section of this course from the WebAIM group explains each of the POUR website construction principles.
